It’s officially winter and I couldn’t be more excited. I love cold weather, within reason, because it’s easier to look stylish or put together when it’s cold. It typically only takes one stand out piece to take an outfit from basic to cool. A pair of must have booties, a coat or even a cool pair of shades are enough to make an impression when you don’t have a lot of time to think about your outfits from day to day. For today, we’re talking about teddy coats, i.e. faux fur, i.e. sherpa, i.e. whatever you feel comfortable calling them today.
I became obsessed with teddy coats last winter because they’re just like me….a little too much but still soft to the touch. Okay that was corny, but you get the gist. You could literally have on an outfit full of nothing but basics and still look put together. Throw on a teddy coat with a simple white tee, a pair of jeans and a pair of Converse or Vans and you are instantly one of the most stylish girls in the room. Just the other day, I was in Zara and I had several people comment on the teddy coat I was wearing, as I was in the store picking up another teddy coat I got in their Black Friday sale. Ha! Teddy coats are simply stand out pieces. The great thing about this trend is that it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere and there are a ton of reasonable ones that you can snag now at amazing prices. No need to thank me, but you’re welcome.
Coat #1
The first coat is a brown luscious number from Zara in one of the colors of the season, brown. I have a similar coat in navy and it’s perfect for rocking a monochromatic look, another trend I have come to adore this season. This is a coat that you can pair with a dark brown, light brown or camel sweater and achieve the popular monochromatic look. If you already own a pair of brown corduroy trousers, another popular trend this season, then you’re already set up to achieve that type of look, if you want to be subtle, yet low key dramatic. However, if you’re just running to brunch with your girls, or guys, whichever tickles your fancy, you can pair this with any basic tee and jeans and still look amazing. I found a “dramatic” faux fur coat on clearance awhile back, otherwise, this would already be on somebody’s FedEx truck addressed to me. All sizes seem to still be available and it’s currently on sale for $50 below retail.
Coat #2
The off-white mid-length teddy coat is a blogger girl staple and a version of this “it” coat is also on sale at Zara. I have a slightly darker version that I picked up last year, since the idea of this color is to serve as a nude neutral. However, the contrast of white based clothing on darker skin tones is typically stunning, so this may be the last teddy coat I add to my collection. If you are new to this style of coat, then this is my top pick if you’re only going to invest in one. The quality is great and the color is versatile enough to pair with anything in your wardrobe.
Coat #3
Bruh. Or probably more accurately, sis. I was strolling through Target and I saw this coat from Wild Fable and I audibly screamed. First of all, for the price, $40, the coat is stunning. It’s $40, so it’s not super heavy, but you’re not wearing this coat in a snowstorm. This coat is for nights out when you want to add a bit of drama into your “fit” or if you’re me, it could simply be Tuesday and you’re running out to run errands. Life is too short to dress basic and to save your clothes for special occasions. Bring the drama everyday and Target gives you a reason to at this price. This is a stellar buy. If you can get it, you need it.
Edit: I literally just purchased this online on clearance for $20. However, there was only size Small available. But I did see a full size run in a local store yesterday (It was not on clearance.), so check your local Target. Target tends to run out of sizes online faster than other fashion retailers. However, I will link another option below that is still very reasonable for your convenience.
Coat #4
This is the 4th coat option I added just in case you’re not able to snag the option above I listed from Target. This is still a great deal at $60, on sale from $90. There are a few sizes still available, so I would strongly recommend you pick this up if you’re in the market for this type of coat. This was underpriced to begin with, so $60 is a relative steal. The dark brown option is so lux looking and feeling that you will never want to wear another coat.
